The under-construction Delhi Meerut Expressway has been renamed as the National Highway (NH)-9 that connects Delhi with Lucknow.
The Delhi stretch of the Meerut Expressway, along with the much-delayed Eastern Peripheral Expressway, is all set for inauguration.
The 8.7-km-stretch of Phase-I of NH-9 project involves a vertical garden, solar system lighting, and drip irrigation besides a new 4+4-lane bridge across Yamuna.
The Eastern Peripheral Expressway, stretching 135 km, envisages signal-free connectivity between Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gautam Budh Nagar (Greater Noida) and Palwal.
The project worth Rs 11,000 crore is India’s first smart, green, and access-controlled six-lane expressway.
The foundation stone for the project was laid on 31 December 2015.
