In a major push to rural development, the newly constituted Delhi Rural Development Board, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved 431 new projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore in its first meeting.
The initiative targets enhancing infrastructure in Delhi's rural areas across 30 assembly and four parliamentary constituencies. The approved projects include construction of approach and village roads, ponds, reservoirs, parks, gyms, libraries, cremation grounds, sports fields, and community centres. Renovation of drainage systems, banquet halls, chaupals, and provision of streetlights and drinking water facilities are also part of the plan.
CM Gupta has directed officials to prepare area-specific project lists to ensure timely approvals and execution. The projects will be implemented in collaboration with the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Municipal Corporation, and other bodies.
