EDF India has announced a strategic joint venture (JV) with Actis, a global investor in sustainable infrastructure, to deploy smart metering infrastructure in India.
The joint venture will operate a dedicated platform company for advanced metering infrastructure service provider (AMISP) concessions. The Indian government is actively driving the National Smart Metering Project under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to address aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses and ensure the financial sustainability of power distribution companies (DISCOMs).
CEO of EDF India, Federico D'Amico, stated, "We are excited to join hands with Actis to accelerate the deployment of smart metering infrastructure in India." This collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiencies, reduce losses, and improve billing accuracy, supporting the National Smart Metering Project’s target of deploying 250 million smart meters by 2025.
