Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) plans to set up a five-lakh tpa
urea plant at Udyogamandal in Kerala at an estimated cost of Rs 695 crore.
FACT plans to increase the annual complex fertilizer production to 10 lakh
tonne by upgrading the existing plant at the Cochin division with modifications
such as introduction of a pipe reactor at a cost of Rs 200 crore. The current
capacity of the plant stands at six lakh tpa.
The company has also sketched up plans to switch over from naphtha to LNG for
the ammonia plant, the complex fertilizer plant and the boilers, which are
likely to be completed by April 2011.
Besides, the company is also expected to expand its capacity of caprolactam
from the current 0.5 to 1.5 lakh tpa at an estimated cost of Rs 750 crore.
