Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi will inaugurate a state-of-the-art chemical testing laboratory at the National Test House (NTH), Ghaziabad, on 10 September, 2025, to enhance India’s food safety and quality testing ecosystem.
Accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards, the facility is also approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and under the Fertilizer Control Order of 1985. The advanced facility will test packaged drinking water, mineral water, food packaging materials, cement, metals, enamelled and insulated wires, coal, petroleum coke, bitumen, enamel paints, anti-skid products, and filtration media.
Equipped with atomic absorption spectrometers, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry systems, and high-performance liquid chromatography instruments, the lab will conduct sophisticated analyses across diverse sectors. Plans include expanding capabilities to fortified foods, spices, and micronutrient testing. The lab will also serve as a hub for training, research, and industry collaboration, boosting food and product safety standards nationwide.
