Fortis Healthcare, a Ranbaxy group company, has
planned to invest Rs.1,100 crore in setting up five multi-speciality hospitals
in the national capital region, over the next five years. The company is also
planning to float a public issue to part-finance the project.
The massive project will see Fortis' aggregate
bed capacity rising to 4,155 from the current 570 beds. The group plans to set
up two hospitals in south Delhi with a total capacity of 250 beds. Two hospitals
-- a multi-speciality facility and a referral centre -- have been planned at
Gurgaon. The combined capacity would be 750 beds. Besides, there are plans to
set up a medical college at the above location. A 500-bed hospital is being
planned in west Delhi for which eight acres of land has been acquired near
Shalimar Bagh.
The company is also expanding the capacity of its
existing 150-bed hospital in Noida to 350 beds, over the next three years.
Some of the running hospitals of Fortis include a
200-bed hospital at Mohali and a 75-bed hospital at Amritsar. It also has a
management contract with Jessaram Hospital.
