The Union
Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel will lay the foundation stone for
the new integrated terminal building at Dabolim airport on 21 February 2009.
The Airport
Authority of India will be constructing the new terminal building at a cost of
Rs.330 crore. The proposed terminal building with an area of 61,957 sq mtrs will
handle 2,000 domestic and 770 international passengers. Besides the terminal
building will include new apron parallel taxi track, rapid exit taxiway and link
taxi track besides car parking facilities.
Initially, the
Central Government had sanctioned Rs.500 crore for the expansion project,
however, only Rs.330 crore have been released and the remaining amount of around
Rs.170 crore will be paid by the Navy toward the expansion. Navy will be
constructing a parallel taxiway.
