Closely following its recently-completed
expansion plan, General Motors has planned a further increase in passenger car
manufacturing capacity at its Halol plant in Gujarat.
GM has proposed to invest Rs.150 crore in
expanding capacity from 60,000 cars per year to 80,000 cars per year. In March
2005, GM had more than doubled its capacity to 60,000 cars from the earlier
25,000 cars.
The company has also planned to invest up to
Rs.150 crore in product development.
