GVK Power & Infrastructure is interested in bidding for developing the
proposed airport at Navi Mumbai.
The new airport received the approval from the MoEF on 22 November 2010 after
a prolonged stand-off between it and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra is expected to
invite bids for the airport by May 2011. As per sources, Phase I development is
likely to entail an investment of Rs 4,000 crore. The entire project with an
estimated passenger flow of about 10 million per annum may require about Rs
15,000 crore for complete development.
