The Government of Gujarat has launched the Green Hydrogen Policy 2025, aiming for a production capacity of three million tonne per annum (MTPA) by 2035.
Key targets include achieving 30 GW of electrolyser capacity and 75 GW of renewable energy capacity. The state plans to attract investments worth Rs five trillion in green hydrogen and renewable energy sectors, creating approx. 6,00,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. The policy also focuses on reducing natural gas consumption by two MTPA and cutting CO2 emissions by five MTPA. It covers green hydrogen production projects, derivatives like green ammonia and methanol, and related infrastructure in Gujarat.
Eligible developers include private companies, public sector undertakings, and joint ventures. "All projects must involve new plant and machinery and be registered within the policy period, which ends in 2035," the policy notes. Renewable energy can be sourced from various channels, including captive generation and power exchanges.
