The Gujarat Government is likely to develop beaches of the state to promote
tourism.
Tourism Corporation of Gujarat (TCGL) is planning to develop 16 'eco
friendly' beaches in the state. TCGL has roped in five consultants to plan the
development of the beaches and based on the same the design work has already
been allotted to architects. Each of these beaches is to be developed at a cost
of Rs 10 core.
The sixteen beaches that are to be developed include Nargol and Tithal in
Valsad, Dandi in Navsari, Suvali in Surat, Gopnath in Bhavnagar, Bhavani beach
in Mahuva, Sarkeshwar in Amreli, Ahmadpur Mandavi in Junagadh, Mayani in
Porbandar, Shivrajpur in Jamnagar, Okha Madhi, Bet Dwarka in Jamnagar,
Pingleshwar and Mandavi in Kachchh and Umargam and Poshitra.
A two km stretch on each beach is to be developed for promenade, walk ways,
cycle track, food court and other facilities. Also, TGCL is likely to develop a
building for a compact resort with a 25-room capacity on each beach. These
resorts are to be developed on PPP basis.
