HCL Technologies has announced plans to establish a TechFin centre in Gujarat’s GIFT City, joining an elite group of 18 techfin and fintech entities including Infosys, Wipro, and Cognizant.
In its application to the International Financial Services Centers Authority (IFSCA), HCL stated it intends to employ 1,500 professionals at the centre to serve its global financial services clients. This will be HCL’s first such centre in Gujarat. The funding for operations at the International Financial Services Center (IFSC) unit will come from the company’s head office.
GIFT City is quickly emerging as a hub for TechFin and fintech activities, driven by recent regulatory support from IFSCA. Chairperson K Rajaraman noted that GIFT IFSC is gaining traction with top Indian IT firms and global financial institutions for their Global Capability Centres. Other recent entrants include Infosys, Cognizant, and Wipro, with operational or planned facilities supporting thousands of BFSI-focused professionals in advanced digital and regulatory domains.
