In a meeting chaired by DS Dhesi, principal advisor for urban development, the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) were directed to expedite approvals for a long-pending project to supply drinking water to newly developed residential areas of Sohna.

A GMDA official stated, “Both HSVP and PHED have been asked to get approval for the project to supply drinking water to the residential areas developed by HSVP and private licensed colonies.” According to HSVP, developers have received licences for 1,310 acres where housing colonies are already occupied. Current demand stands at 19 MLD, projected to touch 23 MLD by 2027 and 34 MLD by 2031.

HSVP has proposed two solutions: expanding PHED’s Ghamroj water treatment plant capacity from 27 to 34 MLD or sourcing water from the planned Mewat feeder canal project. For immediate relief, 6.5 MLD can be diverted from Roj-Ka-Meo. HSVP has also identified land for a boosting station.

Administrator Vaishali Singh stressed, “Providing water to Sohna residents is top priority.”
