Indian Institute of Technology Madras’ Energy Consortium and Shell India have partnered to launch Shell IITM Centre for Energy Research (SICER). The inauguration ceremony took place at the Shell Technology Centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The collaboration focused on research will be centralised under SICER for five years. It will promote commercialisation of technologies in the energy sector, research and development (R&D), piloting and innovation. It will further enable it to share knowledge and resources while leveraging expertise, R&D facilities, and the ecosystem to address challenges in energy transition.
The partnership envisions research collaborations in the energy transition space, incubation of energy startups and the Shell Chair Professorship, for knowledge exchange between Shell and IIT Madras. It further includes unlocking the full potential of the partnership by leveraging shared interests in areas such as R&D, while also actively seeking out new opportunities for collaboration.
