JSW Energy’s step-down subsidiary, JSW Renew Energy Forty Five, has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) for a 100 MW solar power project integrated with a 100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).
The agreed tariff for the project is Rs 4.31 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), the company confirmed in a regulatory filing. The grid-connected project will be located at a designated site and linked to the 220/400 kV KPTCL Firozabad substation in Kalaburagi district, Karnataka.
With this addition, JSW Energy’s total locked-in energy storage capacity has reached 29.4 GWh, which includes 3.0 GWh of BESS and 26.4 GWh from pumped hydro storage. The company stated it is well on track to achieve its ambitious target of reaching 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. This strategic agreement reinforces JSW Energy’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and highlights the rising importance of battery storage technologies in India’s transition to clean and reliable power infrastructure.
