JSW Steel has got total possession of the required land for its 10 million tonne steel plant at Salboni in Paschim Medinipur district of West Bengal.
The company and the state government have completed the land transfer formalities, thus enabling the company to get total possession of the entire 4,334 acre earmarked for its steel plant in Salboni. The West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation has leased out 189 acre to the company. The rest of the land has come from the land reforms department of the state government. JSW is expected to commence work on the plant in October 2012. The Phase I of the plant is likely to be ready in three years from the date of construction. The Phase I is estimated to cost Rs 15,000 crore. The company will raise $2 billion (approx Rs 10,000 crore) in debt funding for the Phase I from the export credit agencies.
