KPI Green Energy has received three notification(s) of award (NoAs) from NTPC for a plasma gasification-based green hydrogen generation project.
The project, which will utilise municipal solid waste-refuse derived fuel (MSW-RDF) and agricultural waste, is set to be developed at NTPC's NETRA facility in Greater Noida. The aggregate contract value of the NOAs is Rs 128.49 crore . The project, planned for one tonne of green hydrogen per day, will use plasma gasification, an advanced waste-to-energy technology that converts municipal solid waste, refuse-derived fuel, and agricultural residues into synthesis gas. This gas can then be processed to produce clean hydrogen, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional fossil fuels.
The initiative reflects NTPC’s growing focus on sustainable energy solutions and the country’s broader push toward clean energy and decarbonisation. Once operational, the project will not only generate green hydrogen but also contribute to effective waste management by utilising municipal and agricultural waste.
