Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has inaugurated a project to fill 74 lakes in Kudligi constituency using water from the Tungabhadra dam.
He emphasised that all the crest gates of the dam are being replaced, with work already underway. While addressing concerns over water release for the second crop, Deputy CM Shivakumar stressed that safety is paramount and urged farmers not to succumb to pressure regarding water distribution. The Tungabhadra Board, will take the final decision regarding the release of water, he said.
Furthermore, the government is considering the establishment of a silk market in Kudligi to benefit local sericulture farmers. With around 4,000 silk growers in the region, this market aims to improve the pricing of locally produced silk.
