The Maharashtra state Cabinet on 03 September, 2025 approved the Rs 6,500-crore ‘New Nagpur’ project, a futuristic hi-tech city aimed at transforming Hingna taluka into a leading business hub.
Designed as a commercial and corporate epicenter, the project centres around an International Business and Finance Centre (IBFC) to support industries, startups, and corporate offices. The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) will oversee implementation, with NBCC (India) appointed as project consultant for its experience in large-scale urban developments.
The development spans 692.06 hectares across Mouza Godhni (Rithi) and Mouza Ladgaon (Rithi). The Cabinet allocated Rs 3,000 crore for land acquisition and Rs 3,500 crore for Phase I development, with the full Rs 6,500 crore to be raised via a loan from HUDCO, backed by the state government. The initiative, declared a flagship project, will enjoy stamp duty waivers.
NMRDA estimates the creation of over five lakh work opportunities. Features include a pioneering underground utility tunnel system, smart utilities, green planning, and single-window clearances to attract global firms and promote entrepreneurship.
