The Kerala government is set to fast-track the process to finalise land for IT parks along the Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam IT corridor, expected to be completed in two months.
This corridor, aligned with the under-construction NH 66, aims to boost the region’s technology sector. Special Secretary for Electronics & IT, Seeram Sambasiva Rao, confirmed ongoing land verification, with acquisition to begin post-selection. Kerala State IT Infrastructure (KSITIL) has identified around 1,000 acres and shortlisted 15 locations, awaiting final state approval before inviting design proposals. The corridor is part of a broader state vision announced in the 2022 budget.
The first phase requires 200 acres, and a five lakh sq. ft .facility is planned in Kollam. However, past delays, underutilised Technopark spaces, and weak developer interest have raised concerns. Additional corridors are proposed in Ernakulam and Kozhikode regions. Meanwhile, infrastructure issues persist, as NH 66 expansion is only 41 percent complete. Attingal municipality has also proposed a new Technopark Phase-VI near the upcoming bypass.
