Kerala’s first dedicated electric vehicle (EV) industrial park will be set up at Vilappilsala, Thiruvananthapuram, with construction expected to begin in January 2026.

The Trivandrum Engineering Science and Technology Research Park (TrEST Park) is the implementing agency, while Ernst & Young (EY) is preparing the detailed project report (DPR) and master plan, which are slated for submission by the end of November 2025. The DPR will define infrastructure design, layout, investment models, and sustainability standards.

Spread across 23 acres of a 50-acre site allotted near the proposed Kerala Technological University (KTU) campus, the park will focus on research, development, and manufacturing of high-value EV components like batteries, motors, controllers, and charging systems. It will also function as an incubation and innovation hub for EV startups. An EV Centre of Excellence will be established to foster collaboration with academic institutions such as CET and KTU.
