Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Bombay High Court's refusal to stay the financial bid opening for two major infrastructure projects worth Rs 14,000 crore initiated by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

These projects include an underground tunnel from Gaimukh to Fountain Hotel Junction and an elevated road along the Thane-Ghodbunder Road, forming part of Mumbai's coastal road initiative. The Bombay HC dismissed L&T’s petitions, citing that the company failed to disclose critical information and allowed MMRDA to proceed with the bid process, provided L&T’s bids are preserved for two weeks.

L&T, represented by senior advocates AM Singhvi and Ranjit Kumar, argued they were not informed about the status of their bids despite timely submission. The state government, represented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, opposed L&T’s plea. The case is scheduled for hearing in the Supreme Court on 23 May, 2025.
