Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Transportation Infrastructure business vertical has secured a major order from the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) to construct 156 route Km (RKM) of high-speed ballastless track, designated as Package T1, for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor.
The contract covers design, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning of track works on a design build lump sum price basis, stretching from Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to Zaroli village in Gujarat. The scope includes over 21 km of underground track-works (linked to Civil Packages C1 and C2) and 135 km on elevated viaducts (Package C3).
This is L&T’s second track-work award in the MAHSR project; in April 2022, it had won Package T3 (116 km) from south Vadodara to Sabarmati depot. Collectively, L&T now handles over 50 percent of MAHSR’s track works. The project will utilise Japanese Shinkansen J Slab Track Technology, supporting speeds up to 320 kmph, enhanced ride quality, longevity, and maintainability.
