The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved a set of key decisions spanning renewable energy, infrastructure, law enforcement, and prosecution services.
Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya announced that the state will establish a 100 MW solar project and a 60 MW wind project in captive mode to reduce operational costs of rural drinking water supply schemes. “Power generated from these projects will be used to run the state’s group village water supply schemes being implemented by the MP Jal Nigam,” he said, adding that a revolving Letter of Credit would ensure payment security. Currently, 147 such schemes worth Rs 60,786 crore are underway to provide safe drinking water to 75 lakh families in over 35,000 villages.
In transport, the Cabinet cleared consultancy charges for DMRC to prepare the DPR for the Ujjain–Indore–Pithampur Metro at Rs nine lakh per km. Additionally, procurement of 3,200 MW thermal power, plus 800 MW under “greenshoe” provision, was sanctioned.
