The Maharashtra government has initiated the process of establishing a new IT Park in Purandar taluka, near the upcoming Pune International Airport and logistics hub, aiming to reduce pressure on Hinjewadi IT Park.
Industry Minister Uday Samant has instructed officials to begin land acquisition, with the industry department requesting the revenue department to transfer 1,500 acres of government-owned land in Dive, Chambali, and Kodit villages. Shiv Sena MLA Vijay Shivthare said, “The state has approved the IT park at Purandar and directed that 1,500 acres of government land in these villages be transferred for the project. This will boost infrastructure in the area and help reduce traffic burden on Hinjewadi.”
Initially, some parcels were rejected, but officials have now cleared the identified land. With Hinjewadi facing saturation and infrastructure bottlenecks, the state expects the new park to strengthen Pune’s IT ecosystem and prevent firms from relocating. Acquisition is expected to proceed smoothly as the land is government-owned.
