Matheson K-Air India (MKI), a 51:49 JV between Matheson Tri-Gas Inc USA and
Pune based K-Air India, is planning to set up air separation plants (ASU) in
India by 2013.
The company has earmarked $100 million (approx Rs 450 crore) for setting up
these ASUs. While the two ASUs are to be set up in Maharashtra and the third ASU
is to come up in North India, location for which is yet to be finalised.
In Maharashtra, MKI plans to set up a 200 tpd plant to produce liquid oxygen,
liquid nitrogen and liquid argon at Chakan near Pune, at an investment of $25
million (approx Rs 112.5 crore). The unit is slated to be operational by
December 2012. MKI is yet to finalise the location for the other plant in the
state.
Also, plans are afoot to set up a mix of 20 re-filling and stock points
across the country.
