Microsoft held the ground-breaking ceremony for its new India Development Centre (IDC) in Noida Sector-145 on 08 March, 2025, in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The campus will span 15 acres with a built-up area of 1.1 million sq. ft., focusing on AI, cloud, and security technologies.

The IDC, also present in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, will contribute to AI skilling opportunities, digital transformation, and strengthen Microsoft's collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government.

Managing Director and President, Microsoft IDC, Rajiv Kumar, emphasized that the new campus reinforces Microsoft’s commitment to responsible AI innovation, adding, “The groundbreaking ceremony of our new Noida campus reflects Microsoft’s continued commitment to advancing responsible AI innovation that empowers all communities, businesses, and citizens. This proposed facility will attract top talent from India and the world and empower them to innovate across AI, cloud, and security, that will positively impact billions of lives across the planet.”

This initiative aligns with Microsoft’s broader vision to boost India’s AI infrastructure. In January, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, where Nadella announced a USD three billion investment in India’s AI and cloud infrastructure, marking Microsoft’s largest-ever expansion in the country.
