The Union Ministry of Power (MoP) has urged the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)
to expedite the work remaining for the coal-handling-plant (CHP), in order to
prevent possible delays in commissioning of 2x500 MW
Mejia-II thermal power project in Bankura district of West Bengal.
According to sources, the CHP may take another six months to complete, while,
the project is scheduled to go on steam by the end of current fiscal. The CHP
for the unit is being executed by Gujarat based material handling company,
Elecon Engineering Company.
BHEL is the EPC contractor for the project while Eastern Coalfields is
expected to supply fuel. The power generated from the plant is to be supplied to
Delhi Transco and MPSEB.
