Mumbai is set for a transformative addition to its urban landscape with the launch of the 7.5-km-long sea-facing promenade along the Coastal Road on 15 June, 2025. Stretching from Priyadarshini Park at Breach Candy to the Worli end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the 20-mtrs. wide promenade will offer a scenic and functional space for walkers, joggers, and cyclists.
Designed for accessibility and connectivity, the stretch includes 20 underpasses, spaced every 400 mtrs., to ensure safe and easy movement across the coastal road. Developed over 17 hectares, the public space features a five-hectare central median by Tata Sons and 12 hectares of promenade by BMC, forming part of a broader 70-hectare Coastal Road open space vision led by AECOM.
The space is planned with 70 percent green landscaping and 30 percent paved areas, with nine major access points across key city locations. Parks will operate from 8 AM to 8 PM, while the promenade remains open 24/7.
Reliance Industries has emerged as the frontrunner to develop the green spaces under CSR, with a Rs 500 crore investment, pending final administrative approval and CRZ clearance.
