Oil India (OIL) has entered into a long-term gas sale and purchase agreement (GSPA) with North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) to supply natural gas to the Assam Gas Based Power Station (AGBPS) in Bokuloni, Dibrugarh district.
Under this 15-year agreement, OIL will provide 1.4 million standard cubic mtrs. per day (MMSCMD) of natural gas, ensuring continued fuel supply to Assam’s largest gas-based power plant. This deal follows the successful completion of an earlier 10-year agreement between the two entities. AGBPS plays a critical role in meeting the electricity needs of Assam and the Northeastern region.
The partnership reinforces OIL’s commitment to leveraging its strong reserve base and domestic production capability to support regional energy security. Both companies emphasised that the extended pact aligns with the broader vision of promoting affordable and clean energy in the region. The collaboration is a step forward in securing sustainable and reliable power for Assam and neighbouring states.
