The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has electrified over 90 percent of its 7,362 km track network, marking a significant milestone in sustainable rail operations.

Prestigious trains like the Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express and NaharlagunNew Delhi Express now operate entirely on electric traction. Key double-line works have been completed on the New Bongaigaon-Agthori, New Bongaigaon-Azara, and Guwahati-Lumding sections, while doubling up to New Tinsukia has been sanctioned.
Additionally, NFR has expanded its network with new connectivity to Aizawl and initiated freight services in Nagaland. Infrastructure developments include the approval of a new bridge over the Brahmaputra near the existing Saraighat Bridge and a third rail line between Kamakhya and Guwahati. Station upgrades and the adoption of modern technologies are also underway to enhance passenger safety and comfort, reinforcing NFR’s commitment to regional growth and rail modernization.
