The Bhopal Metro is approaching its operational launch with the final round of inspections by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) currently underway.
These inspections focus on the priority corridor, particularly the stretch between Subhash Nagar Depot and AIIMS Bhopal, which includes eight key Metro stations. Conducted by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL), the inspection reviewed infrastructure readiness and passenger amenities such as station entry/exit points, escalators, lifts, restrooms, control rooms, fire safety, power supply systems, telecom, and security installations.
The team, led by MPMRCL Managing Director S Krishna Chaitanya, conducted an on-ground review from AIIMS Metro Station to Board Office Square Metro Station. Aesthetic elements like station beautification were also evaluated. With preparations in full swing, Bhopal is set to join the growing list of Indian cities with a functioning metro system.
