NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VO Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, to set up a green hydrogen fuelling station.
The initiative includes deploying hydrogen-based internal combustion engine trucks for port operations, aiming to gradually replace fossil fuel-driven vehicles with clean, sustainable alternatives. The project is part of NGEL’s broader green mobility and decarbonisation push, strengthening energy security and promoting low-carbon port infrastructure.
NTPC has already implemented hydrogen-based projects, including a blending initiative in Surat and mobility pilots in Leh, Greater Noida, Bhubaneswar, and Kandla Port. Additionally, NGEL is working on a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam and targets achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, backed by energy storage solutions.
