The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has proposed investing approx. Rs 80,000 crore in solar and wind power projects across Telangana, highlighting the state’s renewable energy potential.
NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh, accompanied by a delegation, met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at his residence on Saturday to discuss the proposal. The delegation noted that Telangana has the capacity to generate 6,700 MW through floating solar projects alone, offering significant scope for clean energy expansion. Expressing strong interest in the sector, NTPC officials conveyed their readiness to implement large-scale renewable projects in the state.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomed the investment plan, assuring NTPC of “complete cooperation” from the state government to facilitate project development. Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Navin Mittal, also attended the meeting. This investment aligns with NTPC’s broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio while supporting Telangana’s transition towards sustainable power generation and reducing carbon emissions. The projects are expected to create jobs, attract ancillary industries, and boost the state’s green energy infrastructure.
