Nagpur Metro Phase 2 construction is advancing rapidly, particularly on the 18.5 km Butibori stretch—the longest segment in the phase, with 10 stations. Civil works, infrastructure integration, and coordination with national agencies are progressing at a fast pace. A newly established casting yard at Dongargaon is expediting the production of concrete segments for the Reach 1 viaduct, boosting the speed of elevated track construction.
MahaMetro officials confirmed near completion of geotechnical surveys along Wardha Road, and finalisation of technical drawings, including elevation details. A key milestone is the integration of Metro construction with the realignment of National Highway 44 (NH-44). The Metro line will extend from Khapri—the current terminal station on the North-South corridor—to the Butibori MIDC industrial estate, passing through the median of NH-44.
To accommodate the Metro’s elevated alignment, NH-44 is being widened by 2.5 mtrs. over a 10 km stretch near Jamtha, ensuring future six-lane expansion without private land acquisition. Ground-level track work is underway beyond Khapri, with two km of at-grade section being laid. Slabs for two stations—Metro City and Eco Park—are completed, and tree-cutting and utility shift work are nearing finalisation.
