The Department of Fertiliser is likely to revive the Namrup fertilizer complex in Dibrugarh district of Assam.
The revival project will include setting up a new brownfield plant estimated to cost Rs 3,311 crore. The Planning commission has requested to allocate Rs 695.52 crore in plan outlay of the 12th Five Year Plan for the project. However, the Commission has responded that the funding pattern is likely to be finalised before seeking “in-principle” approval for the project. The Department of Fertiliser has already forwarded a techno-economic feasibility report to the Commission for examination, in-principle approval and allocation of fund for the project. The Department is currently in the process of selecting a JV with equal participation, and is holding discussion with OIL, Gujarat Naramada Valley Fertilizer and the state government for the project.
