On 6 February 2010, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore based hospital chain,
launched Narayana Hrudayalaya Malla Reddy Hospital in Hyderabad.
The proposed hospital to have 5,000 beds is likely to be set up at a cost of
Rs 200 crore and completed in a span of 10 years.
Narayana Hrudayalaya is planning to invest Rs 1,000 crore to have a
30,000-bed strength in across India by 2015. The expansion plan included adding
500 beds per annum in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh and setting up 1,400-bed super
specialty heart hospital at Jaipur in Rajasthan.
Further, plans are afoot to set up hospitals in Bhubaneswar (Orissa),
Siliguri (West Bengal) and Mysore (Karnataka). The hospital chain has acquired
140 acre in different cities. It is also looking at the option of entering into
agreements with local partners.
Besides, the hospital chain is vying for the opportunities abroad. It has
entered into agreements in Malaysia and Indonesia to open hospitals there. Also,
it plans to open a multi-speciality hospital at Cayman Island, near Miami in the
US.
