Airports Authority of India has
proposed to construct a new integrated terminal building with an investment of
Rs.95 crore at the Visakhapatnam
airport in Andhra Pradesh. The foundation stone for the project is scheduled
to be laid on 25 September 2006, at the hands of Union civil aviation minister,
Mr Praful Patel. The new terminal building, centrally air-conditioned, will be
equipped with all amenities and with parking space for 600 cars.
In an independent development, the
Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on 21 September 2006, approved a proposal
for developing a new international
passenger terminal building at the Thiruvanthapuram airport in Kerala. The
project cost is an estimated Rs.245.58 crore.
