Essar Steel is expected to complete Phase I of its expansion project at
Hazira in Gujarat by end-June 2010.
The company has an installed annual production capacity of 4.6 million tpa in
Hazira. With the completion of Phase I expansion, the plant is to have a
capacity of 6.4 million tpa.
The company is investing around Rs 13,000 to take the capacity to 10 million
tpa. Essar's new steel plant will be based on the traditional blast furnace and
the eco-friendly COREX furnace route of steel making.
