JSW JFE Electrical Steel Nashik, among India’s pioneers in cold rolled grain-oriented electrical steel (CRGO), has awarded John Cockerill India a contract to design, manufacture, and supply advanced tunnel furnaces for its Nashik facility.
The scope covers supply of components, including coil handling systems, and supervision of erection and commissioning, with completion slated for Q1/2027. The order is part of JSW JFE’s expansion plan to increase capacity fivefold from 50,000 TPA to 2,50,000 TPA, meeting India’s rising demand for energy-efficient infrastructure. The furnace is a critical stage in refining CRGO steel’s magnetic properties, enabling its use in high-efficiency power transformers.
Joydeep Bhattacharjee, CEO, JSW JFE, added, “This expansion marks a significant milestone in our journey to strengthen India’s self-reliance in high-grade electrical steel production.”
