The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is foraying into wind energy in a bid to
evolve into an integrated global energy provider.
With this aim in mind, IOC plans to set up a 50 MW wind power project. The
company is looking for possible sites in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and
Karnataka and is expected to invite bids in the next six months.
According to sources, IOC has set up 14 wind mills with a capacity of nearly
1.5 MW each, aggregating 21 MW. It has invested Rs 130 crore in setting up the
windmill farms.
