The Noida Authority has approved plans for a second expressway between Noida and Greater Noida to ease traffic congestion on the existing Noida Expressway.
Two options are under consideration: an eight-lane ground-level expressway or a six-lane elevated road along the Yamuna River’s embankments, connecting the Okhla barrage near Kalindi Kunj to the Yamuna Expressway.
The proposed expressway will follow the Hindon-Yamuna doab, utilising existing road infrastructure along the Yamuna marginal bund. It will incorporate a four-lane road running 11 km between Okhla barrage and an irrigation drain, along with a 14-km road parallel to several Noida sectors. Traffic congestion has intensified due to rapid residential, industrial, and commercial growth, as well as the upcoming Noida International Airport.
Strategic interchanges are planned at Sector-168, linking the expressway to the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway, and at Sector-150, connecting it to a key road between Sector-149A and Sector-150. A traffic survey and feasibility study will be conducted before finalising the detailed project report (DPR).
