ONGC is chalking out plans to drill
ultra high-tech wells, focusing enhanced oil & gas production , in all its
onshore wells.The company also proposes to drill 15 side tack ultra-short radius
drain holes (USR DH). The sidetrack USR DH wells are drilled in the existing
wells. By March 2007,the company hopes to complete drilling two wells in Mehsana.
The work has started in Mehsana and the results are expected by 25 February
2007. Drilling in Assam assets would start in March 2007. The company has tied
up with US-based company Well flow drilling Services. ONGC has 96 marginal
fields (onshore and offshore)- 42 onshore and 54 offshore and onshore assets
produce 8.1-8.2 million tonnes oil per annum and nearly 5.6 billion cubic meters
of gas. ONGC had floated tenders for service contracts for its 17 marginal
fields for which technical evaluation is going on and the entire process will be
completed soon.
