More than 50 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have committed to investing approx. Rs 100 crore in the newly-developed Maheshwar industrial belt in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh.
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department has allotted 55 industrial plots to companies engaged in sectors such as food processing, polybag manufacturing, garments, and plastic products. The Maheshwar industrial area was developed by the District Industries and Trade Centre (DITC) over 20 hectares at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore. “There were a total of 58 plots in the industrial belt. Almost all have been booked by industries, which together proposed investments of around Rs 100 crore,” said Dhananjay Shukla, General Manager, DITC, Khargone.
Plot bookings were conducted via the MSME portal, reflecting strong industrial interest in the region. Due to the overwhelming response, plans are already underway to develop a second phase of the industrial belt over an additional 30 hectares.
In parallel, the MSME department is also focusing on establishing food clusters to promote agro-based industries. Currently, Khargone hosts six government-designated industrial zones, including those in Nimrani, Khargone, Bikangaon, and Badwah.
