The Patna Metro Rail Project reached a crucial milestone on 07 September, 2025, as the first fitness trial runs were successfully conducted on Line 2.
Spanning 14.05 km between Patna Junction Railway Station and New ISBT, Line 2 features 12 stations. The initial trial run covered the stretch between Patna Depot and Bhoothnath Metro Station, where multiple critical systems were tested to ensure safe and reliable metro operations. Officials confirmed that the tests included assessments of train movement, braking, signaling, and communication systems.
Urban Development and Housing Department (UDHD) Minister Jibesh Kumar recently inspected the Metro Depot and the Zero Mile Metro Station, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work. "The project will significantly transform public transport in Patna," he remarked.
The Patna Metro Project, designed as a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), is currently under construction. Phase 1 comprises two corridors with 24 stations. Line 1 (Danapur Cantonment–Khemni Chak) spans 16.86 km with 14 stations, while Line 2 (Patna Junction–New ISBT) runs 14.05 km with 12 stations.
