Pioneer India Electronics, a subsidiary of Japan’s Pioneer Corporation, inaugurated its new Research & Development (R&D) centre in Bengaluru on 28 May, 2025. This move is part of the company’s broader strategy to deepen its presence in India, alongside its existing R&D hub in Gurugram.
Pioneer also announced plans to commence in-car product manufacturing in India by 2026. The Bengaluru centre will drive innovation in automotive and mobility technologies, especially for smart, safe, and cost-effective mobility solutions targeting both developing and urban markets. Key focus areas include Automotive Vision & Sensing Technologies (dash cams, digital mirrors, 360° camera systems), Digital Cockpit and human-machine interfaces (HMI), and connected solutions for two-wheelers.
President and CEO of Pioneer Corporation, Shiro Yahara, highlighted India’s strong talent pool and mobility ecosystem as critical to Pioneer’s global innovation efforts. Siva Subramanian, CEO of Pioneer Mobility AI & Connectivity Company (MAC), added that the firm is actively recruiting in fields such as embedded software, AI, computer vision, mobile integration, and cloud connectivity.
Since 2008, Pioneer India has offered tailored in-car products including stereos, speakers, subwoofers, dash cameras, and accessories, and now aims to scale its R&D capabilities significantly.
