Qualcomm is planning to set up a research and development (R&D) unit with an investment of Rs 175 crore at Whitefield in Bengaluru as part of its expansion plan, projecting 1,553 jobs.
The firm had submitted the investment proposal for the R&D unit, which has received clearance from the State Level Single Window Clearance Committee (SLSWCC), Karnataka. This fresh investment proposal by Qualcomm in Bengaluru is among the 62 investments that SLSWCC has cleared.
The committee approved eight projects each with more than Rs 50 crore investment, totalling Rs 2,088.44 crore, and creating 6,360 jobs. These investments are worth Rs 3,607 crore with the potential to add 10,755 jobs.
In August this year, the company successfully completed its largest campus project in the Hyderabad district of Telangana. The US-based tech firm already has an R&D unit in Bengaluru.
