The Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) will construct a new 1,000-bed broad speciality block near the Signature Building on Shaheed Path in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh to expand healthcare facilities and improve critical care services.
The existing hospital in Vibhuti Khand, which already offers both broad and multi-speciality treatments, will relocate its broad speciality beds to the new block. This shift will free up space for 100–150 additional critical care beds within the current campus. According to RMLIMS Director Prof. CM Singh, the Board of Governors has approved the proposal for a sevenstorey structure fully dedicated to critically ill patients. Construction is scheduled to begin next year.
Currently, RMLIMS operates 1,150 beds (excluding the obstetrics and gynaecology wing), with a daily OPD footfall of around 4,000 and about 550 emergency cases. The expansion aims to ease pressure on existing facilities and enhance patient care for both general and specialised medical needs.
