Vidhyut Utpadan Nigam (RRVUNL) will be setting up two new super critical thermal
power plants with total generation capacity of 2,640 MW in Suratgarh and Chhabra. Each power station will have facilities to generate 1,320 MW (2X660 MW) of power.
The thermal power
plants will be set up at a total investment of Rs. 15,840 crore. The state Chief
Minister, Ashok Gehlot has given his formal approval to the proposals.
Two units of 660 MW
capacity will be set up in Suratgarh and Chhabra respectively. Bharat Heavy
Electricals will supply machinery and equipment to the plants. The installation
and establishment works for the new proposed super critical thermal units will
start during 2009-2010 and will be completed within four years.
