The redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station, with an investment of Rs 715 crore, is moving ahead quickly and is expected to be completed by late 2025 or early 2026.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy recently inspected the progress, noting that the project is being executed in phases, with 46 percent of the work already completed. This includes the RPF building, multi-level parking, foot overbridges, lifts, and escalators. The upgraded station will cater to 3.3 lakh passengers daily, significantly increasing its capacity from the current 1.97 lakh.
A key feature of the project is its eco-friendly infrastructure, including a five MW solar power plant and rainwater harvesting systems. The station will also offer seamless multimodal connectivity with Metro services and improved parking facilities. This project is part of the broader efforts under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at modernising India’s railway hubs.
